Book Report Basics
A book report is defined as a short summary of a book, the readers interpretation of it and their reaction. While every book report does include details, it is most often customized to its audience with an emphasis on related aspects studied in a classroom or educational group.
From an educators viewpoint, the goal of a book report is to test the students reading comprehension, their ability to relay their thoughts in a clear manner and their writing ability. Educators commonly assign book reports to students in order to help them to build or acquire additional knowledge about a particular subject and to help them better understand how to interpret a book and its meaning.
From a writers standpoint, book reports are often used to entice readers to buy a specific book that has recently been released. This is commonly called a book review, which usually includes the columnists viewpoint, opinion and criticism (if any) of the book. Much similar to the structure of a movie review, a journalist is often employed to critique books and their storyline. This provides potential readers with insight and often persuades or deters another from buying a particular book.
The structure of a book report will depend solely on the age group that it is being tailored for. An example would be that of an elementary class and how their book report would greatly differ from that written by a college student. In general, however, every book report will be similar in its layout. Commonly consisting of a title, brief introduction, the main body of the report including a plot or summary and several concluding paragraphs at the end. The final paragraphs would offer the individuals personal viewpoint or interpretation of the book and a conclusion as to how that particular book is relative to the subject area being studied.
The actual length of a book report will again vary depending on the age group for which it is intended. Most book report assignments will range from one to three pages. Higher learning students are often asked to further examine details of the book and offer a more in-depth interpretation of the books characters, the plot, etc.
Writing a book report can require extensive reading, planning and finally writing. The actual length of time that it may take to complete a book report will depend on the length of the book and the requested length of the book report itself. Working Out Is Not Like Doing Your Taxes
It comes once a year and it always seems to get put off until the last minute. You swear that you will never do it again, but alas, it is the last minute tax crunch. Unfortunately, working out is not like taxes. It is not something that you can get away with cramming in at the last minute and only focus on once a year.
Sporadic workouts done with great intensity are a sure way to land you with an injury, not to mention mediocre health and fitness. So what is the solution?
A better work out program?
Plyometrics and periodic training?
Better exercise equipment?
Personal Trainer?
All of those things can help, but the key is consistency. No matter how great your plan, club, training, etc, is; it is quickly undermined by inconsistency. One month of working out, followed by eleven months of sitting on your butt, spells disaster.
The first key to being consistent is enjoying the process. Now enjoying doing your taxes is a stretch, but enjoying working out is possible. If you want the results working out can bring you, it is going to have to become a habit like brushing your teeth. You don’t have to love doing it, but you better make sure you don’t hate it.
The first step to turn working out into a habit is realizing that working out needs to be habit. It’s not just an inconvenience you push through to finally allow you to fit into those one size smaller jeans.
To be healthy and to keep your body running smoothly, you are going to have to maintain some type of consistent workout plan and the good news is that you get to choose the plan. Knowing that working out is something you need to be doing the rest of your life, why not make it enjoyable?
There is also a very powerful physiological effect that happens when you turn working out into a habit. By committing to the new healthier lifestyle, you start to remove internal sabotage. If you are fighting to get to the gym, doing a work out you hate, just to lose weight or get to a fitness level, there will always be a voice of doubt in your head. Everyday you will have to fight that voice and it will eventually win.
By committing to working out consistently, the voice of doubt eventually disappears. No longer are you on a mad push to get to that perfect fitness goal. You are committed to working out and enjoying the process which eventually also brings you that fitness goal.
All of a sudden, not working out will feel funny. You will crave the consistency of taking the steps that makes your body feel great. No longer will working out be a “have to”, it will become a “get to.”
The act of following a consistent workout plan will become the habit and the target of that plan, will be the goal you are striving for. Whether you achieve your goal, have a set back, or decide on a different goal, your underlying motivation of consistently following a workout plan will never change. This allows consistently working out to become a habit, even though, the specifics of what you do, changes.
You have to work out consistently to keep you body running at its best and you have to do taxes. You might not like taxes, but if you make working out a habit you enjoy, you will end up keeping it the rest of your life.

One of the hardest decisions to make concerning starting a home business is what kind of business to start! Research proves that in order to have the determination and drive to grow a business, you need to have an emotional investment in it. 9 times out of 10 that requires having a passion for what you do. However, a lot of women wanting to work at home mistakenly believe they dont have a marketable talent or skill. Here is how any woman can find a niche for her business that will tap into her personal passions!
First off, you will need an idea notebook. This is a great tool for the learning process, and you will use it in all three steps of Women-on-the-Net.coms step by step approach! It can be as simple as a 79 cent spiral notebook. A highlighter is also helpful to help you pick out the ideas you want to implement. You may even wish to have 3 highlighter colors, that way, after every days notetaking session, you can highlight with one color, the No way thats not for Mes, another color for the Maybe, Ill look into it mores and the last color for YES, PERFECTs! This will make it easier to put together a business plan later. (Dont let the idea of a business plan scare youit is for your benefit only, and does not have to be complicated.)
Now, in order to propel your passion, you need to have a mission statement. Write on the first page of your notebook all the reasons you want to start a business, large and small. Now put the 3 most important reasons in positive sentence form, such asI will create a profitable business where I can create a better financial future for myself and my family, create pride within myself, and make a difference in this world and my community. (Feel free to steal that one if it works for you!)
Your reasons are very personal, and no one will see this but you, but it is important to have this statement written down. to give you strength in the days nothing seems to go right! And trust me, there will be a few. But in the long run, keep your eye on your mission, and you can succeed!
Next, you need to find your passion. In a column on the next page, start listing all the things you can think of that you have ever enjoyed. Putting on kids birthday parties? Put it down. Reading about fine art? It goes down too. Bake a killer cheesecake? Enjoy reading to the blind? At this point, dont limit yourself, you will edit later. And dont limit to things you feel you have a talent or skill for, just enjoyment. (There are many ways to gain knowledge and skill for a business if you truly have a passion for it.) Spend a little time on this, after all, your business future could be on this page!
Now once you have a nice long list, narrow it down to your four favorite choices.
At this point you may have one or two things that you know are your passion. Perhaps everyone knows you are a passionate skydiver, and that made your top four. You live for it, you love it, and you know a lot about it. Start with this subject.
Notice that I keep mentioning some pretty varied passionsthis is just to show you, you are not limited on the net to certain kinds of businesses. If there is a market, and people want to know and learn about a subject, there is a way to make money from it!
Now we are going to take your passions and see if there is a market for them, and a fair chance at a profit. Using a keyword tool such as that at Inventory.Overture.com, type in the keywords for your subject. Keywords are the words someone might use in a search engine while searching for info on your subject. For instance, TheBudgetDecorator.coms most popular keywords are budget decorating and decorating on a budget. When I punch those into a keyword tool, it tells me there have been thousands of searches for those keywords. That tells me there is a market. However, if your subject is mating habits of North American Widgets chances are, the searches are going to be very small, which means, no market. While its important to pick a subject for your business you have passion for, its equally, if not more important that you will have people out there who want to be your customer! If your first subject choice turns out to have a small market, no problem, you have four more to consider! Do keyword searches on all four, than see if you can choose one based on the market size, and your preferences. If you cant, go back to your list and pick four more choices!
Narrow the list down, and you will hit on a passionate subject with potential for profityour new business!

McBride and Hallmark Unite to Make Sweet Music

Grammy Award-winning vocalist Martina McBride has joined forces with Hallmark to create “My Heart,” a Valentine’s Day compact disc available exclusively through Hallmark.
In her hit songs from the past and present, McBride’s powerful voice takes listeners on a romantic musical journey. The CD features two new songs – “At Last” and “Together Again,” as well as six classics, including “Valentine,” a duet with Jim Brickman that rose to No. 3 on the Billboard adult contemporary chart in 1997.
In her remarkable career, McBride has sold over 13 million albums, had 20 top-10 hits and acquired more than 70 awards and nominations.
“We are delighted about joining forces with such a highly respected and talented artist,” said Ann Herrick, integrated marketing manager at Hallmark. “We feel fortunate to be working with an artist whose career is skyrocketing.”
Hallmark has been featuring blockbuster artists on its holiday CDs since the mid-1980s. It recently completed a holiday CD with legendary artist James Taylor.
