Attention Deficit Disorder wears many faces among children. While the hyperactive, rebellious boys are easy to spot, there are also several other types of children that suffer from ADD that go undiagnosed because of their less conspicuous behavior. Girls often fall into this category.

Some girls are referred to as the tomboy type. Preferring more physical activities, they often exhibit some of the key characteristics of ADD, without the defiant behavior of their male counterparts. For this reason, parents and teachers will usually assume the child is not academically inclined and unorganized, but never consider ADD to be a possibility.

Another often undiagnosed group of ADD children are the chatty girls. This type is a combination of inattentiveness and hyperactivity and is typically exhibited as being extremely social. More hyper-talkative than hyperactive, these girls have a very difficult time keeping quiet even after being disciplined for talking. They will also tend to jump around a lot when telling stories and organizing their thoughts.

Daydreamers are another category often overlooked as having ADD. These girls are usually very quiet and do not draw attention to themselves. However, their extreme inattentiveness is a standard ADD trait. They may exhibit depression and anxiety about school projects, but are not able to stay on task to complete assignments. These are probably one of the most difficult children to diagnose, as teachers and parents do not usually notice the behavior as being a problem and assume the child is simply lazy.

Interestingly enough, there are also a lot of gifted girls with ADD. High IQ levels may make it easier to cope with inattention and impulsiveness, but as a child ages, their shortcomings often emerge. It must be remembered that ADD is not a learning disability, and sufferers do not inherently perform poorly in school. They may be able to mask their disorder well into middle or high school, where it them makes itself apparent as work becomes more difficult and assignments become more pressing.

Attention Deficit Disorder can cause many problems when it goes undiagnosed. It will often be assumed children are lazy, unintelligent, and unorganized, when in actuality, they suffer from this disorder. They will often grow up with poor self-esteem and think themselves quitters, or even worse, think they are stupid because of the problems they have. It is important to notice these traits and treat them accordingly to prevent any long term consequences of the disorder.

6) What is the experience of existing users ? Are they satisfied with the service ? Some providers tend to drop connection from time to time. Get to know if such things happen frequently with your provider. You surely would not like to redial in the midst of your favorite download.

Understanding the Notion of Borderline Autism

The concept.of autism can sometimes be very confusing. The syndrome first explained by Austrian psychiatrist Leo Kanner in the 40s has generated many controversial opinions throughout the course of history. Autism is a very complex neurological disorder that can lead to different forms of behavioral, communicational, social and cognitive impairment. People with autism rarely fit the standard symptomatic profile introduced by medical scientists in the past. In fact, the syndrome generates a very wide spectrum of symptoms that can be experienced on multiple levels and at various intensities.

In most cases, the criteria of diagnosis introduced by Rutter and other scientists may be enough to identify some categories of autistic children. However, some children may only present some characteristics of autism, showing no other signs of the disorder. Contemporary medical scientists have argued many times whether it is appropriate to consider this category of children autistic or not. Patients who partially fit the autistic profile could be referred to as borderline. The concept of borderline autism is very common these days and it generally includes patients who show clear signs of abnormality but they only reveal some symptoms of Kanners syndrome. In the past, many children with borderline autism were inappropriately diagnosed with psychosis or schizophrenia.

Patients who dont fit the exact profile of autism but present certain signs of the syndrome might nowadays be diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome. Due to their common features, Aspergers Syndrome and Kanners Syndrome were considered to be the same concept. Many scientists believed that Aspergers Syndrome described a milder form of autism, while others completely failed to distinguish between them. In fact, the syndrome discovered by Asperger described patients who didnt fit the exact pattern of autism and hence, it could be referred to as a form of borderline autism. Aspergers Syndrome revealed how difficult it was to draw the line between autistic and normal children, proving that it was possible for patients to have only certain characteristics of autism.

As Aspergers theories became popular, many children that have been previously diagnosed with mild autism were now considered to suffer from Aspergers Syndrome. Children with Aspergers Syndrome seemed more responsive to external stimuli and presented less preoccupation to sameness. Children with Aspergers Syndrome also seemed to have higher levels of performance intelligence and better communicational skills. Unlike autistic children, who hardly made any progress as they reached more advanced stages of development, some children diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome could be partially recovered in early childhood. With the help of specific medical treatments and with the means of appropriate educational programs, most children with Aspergers Syndrome showed signs of improvement on both behavioral and communicational levels.

Nowadays, most patients diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome can be successfully integrated into the society and they can even live their lives independently. As adults, many patients with Aspergers Syndrome have proved to be very responsible and socially aware, showing few signs of neurological impairment.

I have to admit the title of my section this week is OUTSTANDING! We all know as we are progressing towards our personal goals, dreams and aspirations that we will fail repeatedly, and then all of a sudden we achieve our ultimate outcome and attain our WHY in LIFE! Most people fail more between the ages of 16-25 and then they dont fail ever again in life, which means they never SUCCEED! You see, at the age 25 the majority of people lose their steam and decide to live a life instead of designing a lifestyle for themselves and their families. I am very proud to say that I have failed numerous times in my life. Just ask my parents, they will tell you …”but John you went to college just get a JOB!” As entrepreneurs, we all know that we never have jobs because whatever we do has our life-print on it, which represents our potential. The following is a list of people that we all know who failed before they succeeded. The question that I have for you now is, “Do you realize how you must be proud of your failures because they really are successes?” Many of my workshop attendees have heard me say “…experience is what you receive when you do not achieve what you desire.” I suggest to print this out and put it on your desk where you can read this article every day and remind yourself about Fred Astaire, Ray Kroc, Dick Clark, and Walt Disney and say to yourself, “What is MY story going to be?” You need to fail in order to ultimately succeed in LIFE! Married for eight years, Robert and Tanya Maxwell had their hands full trying to raise six children. As devout Catholics, the couple were constrained to follow the teachings of their church. Having a big family has really taken a toll on their marriage, time, and finances. After some deliberation, the couple decided to adopt birth control methods or family planning. Definitely, the rhythm method was not appropriate for them. For the sake of the entire family’s well being, the couple decided to be more open-minded about family planning. Even if Mrs. Maxwell was not so keen on trying methods that were not approved by the Church, she realized that their conservative views got them to into trouble in terms of their family’s finances.

The Roots of Nirvana

No band develops in a vacuum; every band starts out thinking, at least a bit, of other musicians that they want to take after or rebel against. But Nirvana was the first great band of actual music snobs: record fiends who wanted to make it very clear exactly what they listened to. They all loved Led Zep and Aerosmith and CCR and Black Sabbath and Kiss and then some more Led Zep on top of that. Mostly, though, Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic had grown up as Pacific Northwest punk rock kids. They hung out with the Melvins in Aberdeen, Washington, were required by circumstance to define their position with respect to K Records and the Olympia scene and carried Flipper and Bad Brains records like shields to ward off poseurs. (Dave Grohl had a roughly equivalent experience growing up in the DC area.) When they hit the big time, they covered their favorite bands, got them to open for Nirvana, wore their T-shirts every chance they got. Kurt even oversaw reissues of his beloved Raincoats’ lost work.

Future Plans or Dreams?

People tend to look in the future with perspective. That is, probably, a remarkable characteristics of human beings. Sure, very often future seems quite vague and uncertain, which makes people feel distressed and at a loss. For this reason we plan.events and dream of achieving best results in what we plan.

So, what is the key difference between a future plan and a dream? A dream has some special taste or smell, whatever. It is very often our fantasy, our cherished desire, some crazy wish. We may know that well never get what we dream about but still have and keep our dream for quite a long time. Moreover, some really funny things can turn into dreams for someone, like having a bath full of macaroni (as it was described in one movie), and a person will live the entire life with such a dream. Plans are considered to be much more down-to-earth. Nowadays planning is everywhere: when at job we have daily schedule, even household chores are planned. But of course there are more global-like or serious plans, like buying a house at the seaside in 10 years or so. The latter example can be attributed to both dreams and plans. Thus a dream can turn into a plan, if you have some strategy of achieving your aim. There is one more aspect: plans are not always what we really want to get; very often we have to plan unpleasant things for us. A school-boy plans to write his final essay by the deadline, but thats not what he wants to do. Well, he wants to get a good result, but the whole process may be far from pleasant for him. However, the plan is with him. A new bike can be a dream for this boy, if his family is not rich or is against such presents. Still, this dream can soon transform into a plan. As we see, plans and dreams, despite some differences, are often inter-connected and inter-dependant. That is because they have one important thing in common: they are about future, which is indeed uncertain. Because of such uncertainty, dreams at times turn to be more realistic than plans. Thats life.

Since childhood we dream and plan. We want to open at least a small slot in the doors to the future; that is the sweetness of uncertainty, which may end with bitterness or a greater sweetness. Anyway, both planning and dreaming follow us in the course of our whole life, because they give us grounds, which is more, they provide us with a reason for living.

What sizes and colors do I need to address?

Your lines will be able to expand as your shop grows in size and revenue. Most shops that do well can expect approximately a 15% increase per year for at least the first five years and that will open up many possibilities for expansion as you go. When making purchases many manufacturers will push for you to purchase at least four pieces per size and per color. Four pieces is fairly reasonable as long as you keep the number of colors and sizes in check. If you are pressured to purchase six do not do so as it will be far more merchandise than you can turn over swiftly.

As far as sizes are concerned most sizing for tops runs in Petite to Extra Large, and pants from size 0-14. If you need to acquire sizes that are outside of these typical ranges you will have to meet with manufacturers that specialize in over or undersized clothing. You should plan to bring in several sizes per cut or style of clothing.

Where will I purchase my merchandise from?

Before you begin purchasing merchandise you will want to acquire your small business license and wholesale license. These licenses will open the door to merchandisers that otherwise you would not be able to make purchases from. It is vital that your own purchasing be at the lowest rates possible so that the merchandise in your clothing store can be kept at a reasonable price for your customers. Too much mark up in order to make up for high purchasing prices will keep clothing from selling and be detrimental to your business.

Building a customer base is one of the hardest thing that any clothing store or boutique faces, especially in the early days of the business. Be confident that you will succeed and make sure that you, and your employees, are friendly and knowledgeable. This will help to make your customers feel confident in their purchasing experience and in your store. When you first open throw a grand opening party and advertise with a small space in local papers and fliers. Have those that attend write their name and contact information on slips of paper for a raffle and use these to create a mailing list. Keep the mailing list active and invite any new customer to sign up with you. Those that have such lists find that about 20% of their mailing list generates nearly 80% of their business, impressive numbers and a good impetus to grow that list as much as possible. Most importantly remember that word of mouth is your strongest advertising. For every customer that has a good experience two or three more will be directed to your shop. On the other hand each customer that has a bad experience will drive away just as much business. The power to bring people in and to help your business expand is in your hands.

It is a well known fact in the medical community now that smoking and the morbidity and mortality that is a direct result of this destructive habit. It really is a health care crisis but the problem is that you wouldn’t know it. Anyway due to the recent awareness there has been a lot of work into figuring out how to help people stop smoking. The results of all this work is fortunately encouraging. The major concern was that it wouldn’t be a good use of the physicians clinic time to counsel and manage smoking cessation efforts. The problem was this counseling was one of the key components to successful treatment of the addiction. Then people started looking not so much at how much it was costing to have doctors spend time treating this issue but how much it was costing to allow people to continue to smoke. The numbers are staggering, and very much in favor of paying physicians to treat this addiction to nicotine.

So all that to say that doctors have gotten good at helping people decide to stop smoking and to make good on this promise. Treatment usually involves a very well proven combination of frequent office visits for counseling, contracts to quit, recruiting the support of family and friends, nicotine replacement, and other pharmacotherapies that help to make a drastic but life saving change. Summertime is officially approaching, and there are many things that everyone must do in the summer. I absolutely love summer, so my friends and family know to be ready for endless days and nights of fun as soon as summer rolls around. I just love summer. I love the fact that it is warm enough to be outside for as long as you want without having to bundle up, and I love that I can never run out of fun things to do with the people I love the most. I’ve started making a list of things that must be done at least once each summer, and going to a waterpark is on the top of the list.

There are few ways to spend a day that is as fun and relaxing as a day at a waterpark. Whether you live on water, near water, or if there is no water anywhere near your home, you still need to go to a waterpark. Even the biggest and most beautiful lakes in the world cannot be a substitute for enjoying some time at a waterpark, so don’t be fooled. A waterpark provides fun for people no matter what they like to do or how active or relaxed they hope to be.

Another thing I love about visiting a waterpark is that they usually offer such a variety of things to do that people young and old will all find things they enjoy at a waterpark. You can take your grandmother and your young daughter and they will both find great ways to spend their days. I love it that all waterparks offer such a huge variety of activities. They are inclusive in nature so that fun is had by all.

I’m sure you’ve heard that it is incredibly useful to practice with a metronome. Most books and teachers make it abundantly clear that using a metronome is a great way to improve your timing. This is true. But did you know that there are other HUGE benefits to using a metronome? Let’s take a look at a few now…

***Goal Setting***

Its been proven time-and-time again that goals need to be specific and measurable to work. If you dont know exactly WHAT you are trying to achieve, how will you know WHEN you have achieved it?

I use my metronome all the time to help me set SPECIFIC goals for my technique development. For example, let’s say that you would like to increase the speed at which you can play a particular exercise. If you use a metronome you can set an EXACT speed for your goal. For example, you might say that when you can play the exercise using sixteenth notes at 160 bpm (beats-per-minute), then you have reached your goal. Can you see how powerful this is? The metronome setting gives you a clear target to aim for!

***Progressive Realization Of Goals***

Metronomes allow you to progressively achieve your goals. What do I mean by this? Put simply, it means start slow and GRADUALLY increase the speed of your metronome. For example, lets say you want to get a particular lick up to 200 bpm. You could first master the lick at 40 bpm. Once mastered at this speed you could then increase the metronome speed to 42 bpm, then 44 bpm, then 46 bpm. You get the idea! You would work up to the target speed incrementally over a period of days, weeks or even months.

***Developing Listening Skills***

One absolutely vital skill to develop is the ability to play your guitar while still being able to listen to the people that you are playing with. This is especially true in jazz, where a large proportion of the song may be improvised!

Metronomes really help you develop this listening skill. As you practice you will also have to be listening to the click of your metronome. If you dont, you will soon be playing out of time with it!

Obviously, youll develop this listening ability more fully by playing with other musicians, but playing with a metronome will definitely help as well. Its a great place to start and can often can help build your confidence to play with other people.
