A Garden Of Roses: Character Relationships In Marimite

While Japanese animation is better known for having flashy special effects and obscenely choreographed fight scenes, there are other shows out there that offer a very distinct visual treat. Some shows become sleeper hits, never really making the headlines but having special places in the hearts of more…discerning anime fans. Among these shows is Maria-sama ga Miteru, (affectionately called Marimite by fans) which is a show that focuses heavily on the characters’ everyday lives, relationships, and personal complexities. Unlike most other anime, Marimite has no plot to follow, with the story instead taking time to examine each character in turn. The focus often falls on the relationship a character has with their closest companion, but can also delve deeply into the themes like how their connection with others gives them emotional stability. Some episodes highlight the depth of the devotion that the characters have for each other.

Addiction to Talking

There is an old joke about people who talk a lot: Do you know the 12-Step program for people who talk a lot? On and On Anon!

The joke recognizes that fact that incessant talking is a common addiction.

Non-stop talking is about using others for attention and approval because of not giving oneself enough attention and approval. The talker is not actually offering anything to the listener. Instead, the talker, in going on and on with a monologue, is pulling energy from the listener. People who end up listening to a talker go on and on are often caretakers who are afraid to hurt the talker by disengaging or by telling the truth about their boredom.

Talkers are often needy people who attempt to assuage their emptiness by trapping people into listening to them. For example, Ive seen people telling a bank teller their life story, while the trapped teller doesnt know how to disengage without being impolite. The problem is that one of the reasons these people are without friends is that no one wants to be with them. Its draining to be at the other end of a needy person who uses talking as a way to fill up.

If you are addicted to talking, perhaps you believe that you are being interesting when you go on and on about yourself. However, you might reconsider the truth of this belief if you find that many people avoid you. Most people will not tell you the truth that they feel tired, drained and trapped in your presence, and bored by your talking. Not wanting to offend you, they just stay away rather speak their truth. They dont answer the phone when they know its you, and they find any excuse to not spend time with you. Its not that they dont like you its that they dont want to be used by you to fill up your emptiness.

HEALING YOUR ADDICTION TO TALKING

Imagine that you have a child within you your feeling self – who feels very alone. This child feels alone because you are not paying attention to him or her. Every time you trap someone into listening to you, it is as if you are handing this inner child away for adoption. You want someone else to attend to and approve of this child instead of you accepting this responsibility.

The very fact of doing this is an inner abandonment and is creating the aloneness that is at the heart of all addictions. By expecting others to listen to you when you dont listen to yourself, you are giving the child within a message that he or she is not important to you. When you do not take the time to attend to your own feelings and needs, you are creating inner neediness and emptiness. This inner emptiness is like a vacuum that attempts to suck caring from others. Yet no matter how often others do listen to you, it never really fills you. This is because only you can give your own inner child what he or she needs.

If you were to take some time each day to have a dialogue, either out loud or in writing, with the part of you who so needs to be heard, you would discover that you can fill your own emptiness. In addition, if you practice imagining a loving spiritual presence holding you, loving you, listening to you and guiding you, you will no longer feel alone.

As long as you believe that it is someone elses job to fill you, you will not take the time to learn how to fill yourself. As long as you believe that it is okay to trap others and use them to fill yourself, you will continue your talking addiction. Only when you get that it is not loving to yourself or others to expect them to take care of your own inner child your own feelings and needs – will you start to take on that responsibility.

While you might not believe that you can fill yourself better than others can, you will not know until you try. My personal experience is that when my intention is to take loving care of myself and to fill myself with the Love that is God, I feel happy and peaceful. When you choose to take responsibility for meeting your own needs instead of abandoning yourself to others, you will never feel alone.

Learn About Various Guitar Music Styles, Including; Rock, Country, Blues and Christian Music.

Guitar music is available in a wide variety of styles.

Not only are there a large number of different types of guitars, but there are a variety of methods to play them, making guitar music most versatile. Most guitar music is played on either a solid body electric or an acoustic dreadnought, but there are also specialty guitars, such as 12-string guitars with their lovely ringing sound.

Most popular music styles also rely heavily on guitar music. Country music has traditionally been played on an acoustic guitar, but in recent years country has employed more rock-style electric guitar music.

Rock music got it’s start with electric guitars, but has featured occasional acoustic music from time to time. Jazz music can certainly be done without using guitar music, but the guitarist is usually an important part of a jazz combo, usually playing an electric guitar.

Blues music, an off shoot from jazz, can be played on either an acoustic or an electric guitar. In addition, all types benefit from a driving bass guitar added to the mix.

Guitar music is an important part of the ethnic music of many parts of the world.

From the strumming cowboy beside the chuck wagon to the flat-picking hillbilly to the young girl singing folk songs, guitar music is integral to the American culture. But it is also found in the Philippines, Spain, Italy, Mexico, and even in the Celtic folk music of the British Isles.

In fact, the guitar as we know it today is probably more the product of the Spaniards and their native music than from any other cultural group. The portability of the guitar and the ease in which it can be learned makes it the most popular musical instrument in the world.

Classical music has been written for the guitar for years. A quiet recording of classical guitar music makes a nice mood setter for a quiet get together with friends. Look for the Baroque works of Bach and others adapted for guitar, or find music written specifically for the guitar and played by a master like Andre Segovia.

Instead of a classical sound as mood music for a small party, you could put on a compact disc of instrumental bluegrass guitar music for an earthy country feel that goes well with country decor and natural food. In the same way, a CD of stylin’ jazz guitar music fits into the urban scene.

You can find all sorts of guitar music online, but downloading any music from music sharing sites is a bad idea, since some music sharers are being arrested for copyright violations. If money is a problem, look for the music you want at second-hand sites or discount price outlets.

Another alternative is to brush up on your own guitar playing skills and make your very own special brand of guitar music. You’ll find that Internet resources abound for learning how to play guitar with online guitar lessons.

What Katrina Can Teach Us About Leadership

Over one week ago a major disaster hit part of the Gulf Coast of the United States. I have been reflecting on the disaster, the response to it, and what lessons we can draw about leadership.

Don’t worry this isn’t a political piece…

Lesson 1 – Leadership is important. Much has been made that areas weren’t as prepared as they could have been. Leaders could have changed that. Many have said that the initial response (at all levels from local to the Federal Government) wasn’t perfect. Leadership can improve that in the future.

Lesson 2 – Leadership can come from everyone. Not just those with a title, but everyone can lead. Thousands of stories of heroism, and leadership are coming out of these events. Not all of them are stories of people wearing a badge or a official title. We can all use our leadership abilities.

Lesson 3 – Remarkable leaders know that blame takes too much energy. In recent days it seems that the focus of the “story” of the disaster has changed from the disaster to who did what wrong and how it could have been done better. Let’s be clear. This was a disaster of monumental proportions. Could things have gone better? Of course. Was the way things were handled a travesty? No. Will blaming and pointing fingers at others solve the problem now? Absolutely not. Every ounce of energy being spent in blame and “Monday Morning Quarterbacking” is an ounce of energy better spent on meeting the vast challenges that still exist. Which leads to…

Lesson 4 – Remarkable leaders focus on solutions, not problems. Rather than looking at what is wrong, they look at creative ways to make it better. Remarkable leaders know that when they are point a finger at others, four times as many fingers are pointing back at them. They take responsibility, and focus on solutions.

Lesson 5 – Remarkable leaders know when to reflect and when to act. Will there be a time to look back and learn from the failures in processes, procedures, and responsibilities used during the time immediately following the storm? Yes. Will there be people that may need to be held accountable for some of those decisions and actions? Of course. I just don’t think that time is now. A study and review will be commissioned, I’m sure, as it should be. Leave that learning for then.

My bottom line? I believe that right now, leaders of all sorts, from township supervisors, to mayors, to state legislators, to those in government agencies, to Congress, to the White House, need to look forward and work together to meet the many challenges we will face for months. There is a time for reflecting and a time for action. Now is the time to look forward.

In your own leadership development keep this in mind. Remind yourself of these lessons.

The Best Way Of Searching For People Internationally

Do you have some old friends that you havent seen for a long time? Is he living abroad? Is communicating with him an impossibility?

Searching for people internationally is not an easy thing to do. One of the problems is because of the inconvenient and hard to reach location. Another thing is the lack of facilities to search the exact whereabouts of that person.

Now here is the good news, there are now websites that provide suitable ways of searching people internationally. By the use of an internet connection and of course a computer, the boundary and distance of searching other people is minimized.

Many websites organize several free people search engines. By using this, the user can easily find the location of a certain individual just by entering some information about the person.

Most of the people searching websites have all major international databases. This database has over three million information entries and others much more. Web searching for people internationally is now made easy. Most of the user from Canada to the United States and worldwide including United Kingdom can be accessed easily.

With just one entry of a phone number, address, name and other vital information there is definitely a result. There are some websites that offers a reverse look up system. This kind of system has a different searching strategy. For example, the user can search internationally by phone or by email address.

Aside from that, a user can also conduct online searches on different international people searching sites. Conducting online searches makes the results more reliable compared to any other form of searching internationally.

On the other hand, there are also some websites that are constructed to locate military people. For example, if the troops are deployed on Iraq, their relatives and loved ones back in the U.S. can easily know their status.

Another thing is, there are also some websites that are made for missing persons and some for background information. For instance, missing persons are published on the net for some background information. By doing this, the information will be disseminated to all of the linked sites. The information will be spread fast and eventually will help in locating the missing person.

Now, here are some tips using the web person searcher, internationally or locally, properly and effectively.

Know the exact name of the person. As much as possible the name should be complete for best results.

It is good to know in which country the person you are looking for lives. Aside from that, locate also the IP number of the country. By doing this, the information will easily flow right on the database.

Have some supplementary information about the person like, educational attainment, user of AOL, and previous employment for example.

And most of all, make some files about the data gathered. The information must be sorted out in only one file to avoid misconception.

Remember that international people search services were developed to provide a comprehensive searching method. Avoid the recurring rates in most cases. And as much as possible, use the program in good will.

Quality of Life

A new hobby can improve your quality of life. Think of it. A hobby is a recreational or leisure activity outside of you career or work place. It is something YOU are interested in, some YOU want to pursue. Would it not improve your quality of life to do the things that you enjoy? You should not be selfish in pursuing what you want, what you want can actually benefit others around you as well. You can think of activities to which you can invite others to come along. You can find activities and hobbies that not only improve your own quality of life, but others as well.

People need a purpose in life, a reason to do things. I am not saying that hobbies are the ultimate purpose for living, but I think that people should be happy and if they pursue hobbies that they enjoy, it can improve their lives and the lives of others. I think wholesome leisurely and recreational activities with family and friends are very important to having a good quality of life. It improves relationships, by providing good experiences together, it also just gives people the opportunity to get out and do something that they enjoy. It gives them the opportunity to feel like they have accomplished something and done something constructive.

I heard once that happiness is the culmination of small successes. Is the quality of life not improved by small success, whether it be success in your career, success raising your family, success improving your life in some, or success in mastering some hobby or other interest that you have? A hobby or new interest can be something that you can quickly and easily master, or at least just enjoy learning to do it. It can give you a feeling of accomplishment, which will inspire and encourage you or others.

One specific hobby that can increase your quality of life is music. Music is relaxing. Different music can stimulate different reactions of thought processes. They even have university undergraduate, masters, and doctorate degrees in music therapy. Learning to play a musical instrument or just listening and getting to know good music can be a way for you to improve your quality of life. It can be a hobby that is leisurely, relaxing, and can be a means for you or others to feel like they have accomplished something that makes a difference. If you can play a musical instrument, think of the good you can have in others lives. Musicians are often the life of the party. It seems everywhere I go, if someone can play the guitar, by the end of the night they will be entertaining everyone with their musical talent. The same goes for the piano or many other musical instruments. I myself played the trumpet for seven years, I also taught myself to play the guitar. I taught myself to play the piano a little bit, but I am not as good at it yet as I am at the guitar and the trumpet.

Many hobbies can improve your physical health and stamina as well. Would it not be great to have a hobby, something you enjoy, that also keeps you physically fit? Many people play sports or participate in athletic events as hobbies to keep in shape. One of my favorites is to play tennis. I actually have never taken a class or learned to play tennis, I just taught myself and as I began playing I gradually got better. Now it is something I can do as leisure activity outside of work that will keep me in shape as well. Another hobby I just started is running. I ran the marathon over the weekend, I still cannot walk well, my feet and legs hurt, but I am sure I will get better. The pain will go away, but now I will be a marathoner forever. Find your hobby at the online hobby store and more.

Online Health Hoaxes-A Prescription For Trouble

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — admin @ 3:02 am

lthough the content of many Web sites is credible, sometimes there are exceptions.

That’s because the content posted on the Internet may not be regulated for accuracy. Unfortunately, some Web sites can actually be a source of misinformation.

According to registered dietitian Diane Quagliani: “Be sure to check the credibility of any source when it comes to health and nutrition information-especially when it comes to the Web. Acting on misinformation may result in detrimental health consequences.”

For example, alarming and unfounded e-mail hoaxes-often called “urban legends”-circulate widely to “warn” people about particular health perils. They include bananas carrying flesh-eating bacteria, cancer-causing antiperspirants and chewing gums infested with spider eggs.

Here are some tips for spotting hoaxes and identifying science-based sources of online information:

• Question information that makes sweeping claims. One sign of a hoax is a Web site or e-mail message claiming that one product is the cause or cure for every malady under the sun. For example, a common e-mail myth is that the low-calorie sweetener aspartame causes a range of medical conditions from brain cancer and multiple sclerosis to Alzheimer’s disease. In reality, aspartame is one of the most thoroughly studied food ingredients with more than 200 studies confirming its safety.

• Carefully consider the source. Scrutinize the source of information on Web sites and in e-mail messages. Is the source a respected authority or an unknown entity? The basic rule of thumb is to ignore e-mail messages from unknown senders and rely on the Web sites of known, credible organizations.

• Check out urban legends. If you suspect an e-mail hoax, visit www.snopes.com and www. urbanlegends.about.com. These sites are dedicated to setting the record straight about urban legends. Along with identifying hoaxes, avoid the temptation to spread false and alarming information. Ignore the urging of e-mail hoaxes and don’t forward the message.

Generating Excitement At Sporting Events

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: — admin @ 1:02 am

From August through March, sports enthusiasts everywhere can be found watching their favorite college football or basketball games at tailgating parties, picnics, campsites or at home.

Because most remote sports gatherings have become high-tech, the use of satellite TVs, microwave ovens, computers and even blenders to whip up party drinks is becoming more the norm than the exception. And the common denominator is power. Enter the portable generator.

Once reserved only for emergencies, the portable generator has become the real power behind today’s tailgate parties. Manufacturers such as Honda Power Equipment are designing generators that are powerful, lightweight, fuel efficient and that provide clean power necessary for sensitive electronics.

“Choosing the right generator is easy: Just select the appliances you’ll want to operate and match the output of the generator to your needs,” says Tom Pernice, Marketing and Product Planning at Honda Power Equipment. (You can find a handy wattage calculator at www.honda.com.) “Look for a quiet generator that won’t disturb other tailgaters.”

These tips will help you get the most out of your generator: Be sure to pack a power strip for plugging in multiple appliances, and because games can run into overtime, take along extra gas for the generator-stored in an approved safety container.

For the party itself, don’t forget wet wipes for sticky hands, extra chairs for drop-in guests, personalized beverage containers so guests won’t mix up their glasses or cups, and enough water to extinguish hot charcoal. Postgame, enjoy leftovers while you clean up and wait for the traffic to dissipate. Then plan for the next party.

Power to the people: A portable generator can add a lot to an outdoor tailgate party-or other special event.

Plugging in to the fun of a sporting event can be even more electrifying when you bring along a portable generator.

Be Heart Healthy The Plant-Based Way

All diets designed to promote heart health are low in fat and cholesterol and high in fiber. Vegetarian diets, then, are natural choices for those who want to reduce the risk of heart disease because vegetarian diets are naturally low in fat and cholesterol and high in fiber! Eliminating meat, poultry and fish, which are among the foods highest in fat and cholesterol and lowest in fiber, can be a giant step toward improving heart health. Another step, which comes naturally to vegetarians, is to increase the consumption of plant-based foods that are naturally high in fiber. Plant-based foods, particularly fruits and vegetables, also provide antioxidant protection for the heart.

The following guidelines from www.d-vegetarian.com are recommended for cooking heart-healthy vegetarian meals:

Saut foods in water or very small amounts of olive or canola oil. Olive and canola oils are considered the healthiest oils because of they help to reduce cholesterol levels in the blood. Low fat cooking methods are also recommended for heart health. Such methods include broiling, steaming, roasting, baking, poaching, boiling, and stir-frying with little or no oil. You can also try replacing some of the oil, butter or margarine in recipes with water, juice, applesauce, or pured prunes. Frying foods, particularly deep-frying, is never recommended for those concerned about heart health.

Since egg yolks are high in cholesterol, whole eggs can often be replaced with bananas, tofu, applesauce, or egg replacers in most recipes. You can also replace the yolk with the white of another egg. For example, if a recipes call for one egg, use two egg whites and discard the yolks.

When shopping for ingredients for heart-healthy meals, buy plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes and fat free or low fat milk products. Avoid frozen vegetables with cheese, cream or butter sauces. Read the labels on snack foods to find out how much fat and cholesterol they contain. The best snacks are popcorn, fresh fruits and vegetables, rice cakes, and pretzels. There are also lower fat baked versions of many chips that would ordinarily be high in fat.

Fiber helps to cleanse the blood of cholesterol, which is why high fiber diets are considered beneficial to the heart. To fiber intake, choose whole grain breads and cereals and limit the consumption of refined (white) breads and cereals. Also limit consumption of sugary baked goods like croissants and muffins, which tend to be low in fiber and high in fat.

Eating out can be especially challenging both to vegetarians and to those concerned about heart health. Some simple guidelines can make it easier. For example, choose stir-fried entrees, steamed vegetables, and pasta with tomato sauce. Order baked potatoes without butter or cheese, and choose vegetable-based soups. Avoid mayonnaise-based salad dressings, and always ask for dressings and sauces to be served on the side so you can limit the amount you eat. Saturated fats and trans fats should be avoided, while monounsaturated fats are generally considered good for the heart. The fact that saturated fats are mostly found in animal products is another natural advantage for vegetarians concerned with heart health. But saturated fats are also found in coconut, palm, and palm kernel oil, so these oils should be avoided on a heart healthy diet. Trans fats, which may also contribute to the development of heart disease, are found in margarine and many baked goods. Monounsaturated fats, the kind that are good for the heart, include canola oil, olive oil, flax seed oil, nuts, avocado, soy, and nut butters.

A vegetarian diet that includes soy products may add an extra benefit for heart health.
Many studies suggest a connection between soy, such as tofu, soymilk, and soy yogurt, and lower rates of heart disease. The usual recommendation is 25 grams of soy protein per day.

Since cholesterol is only found in food of animal origin, such as meat, eggs and dairy products, vegans do not need to worry about cholesterol in the foods they eat.. Grains, legumes, nuts, fruits, vegetables and vegetable oil are all naturally cholesterol free. Conversely, only vegetarian foods provide heart healthy fiber. Oats, carrots, fruits, and beans are especially high in the kind of fiber that helps to lower cholesterol levels in the blood.

If you are interested in more specific guidelines for a heart healthy vegetarian diet, the ebook Vegetarian Cooking is a good resource. Available at www.d-vegetarian.com, the book provides listings of heart healthy nutrients as well as which foods contain them and in what amounts. There are also dozens of other topics covering all aspects of the vegetarian lifestyle and its benefits.

Jen Scott is author of the successful new site www.d-vegetarian.com, dedicated to educating people about the benefits of having a more vegetarian like lifestyle.

Producing Canvas Art Prints

A very recent technology allows for artists original paintings to be replicated on canvas. Prior to this an artist who painted an original work on canvas would have to have a reproduction made on paper. Unlike a paper reproduction, one printed on canvas can be displayed without glass and matting, and also looks like an original.

There are two main ways that person can produce canvas prints. They are by canvas transferring and printing directly on the canvas. Both can produce high-quality results, and can be made to look as close to the original as possible.

When it comes to reproducing an artists original canvas art prints, it is obvious that the reproduction should look as much like the original as possible. By using several techniques, it makes it easy to produce canvas art prints that look just as good as the original.

Transferring to make canvas art prints is the most common of the two techniques. It begins with a standard, offset paper print that is made in the traditional way from the original. The print is then coated with a series of special chemicals that are designed to allow the paper and the ink to separate from each other. That means when the paper is removed, the ink remains.

The canvass is then prepped with adhesive, and the film is carefully laid on it. Pressure is applied to bond the film to the canvas, which is then set aside to dry. The result is a beautiful canvas art print that looks very much like the original.

Printing directly on the canvas to produce canvas art prints is the second most commonly used method.

Other methods used consist of direct offset printing, where a piece of canvas is run through an offset press; Repligraphy, where a hot-melt color dye printing system is used to create an oil-based film that adheres to the canvas; and Artagraphs, which features a mold of both the artists original brushstrokes and textures.

How can you tell if a piece of art is the original or a canvas art print reproduction? Although it may seem hard, there are clues that someone can use to tell what is real and what is a copy.

The first is to look for limited edition print numbers, which are normally found at the bottom of the work in xx/yy format. When producing canvas art prints, a reproduction often leaves this out.

Canvas art prints are usually completely flat or have small applications of hand-applied paint that is referred to as highlight. If the canvas art print is flat to the touch, then its probably a reproduction. Originals mostly include areas of texture.

Highlights can be obvious to see. A hightlight can be simply a small dab of paint, which is quite different from an artists actual brushstroke.

Other options include using a high-powered microscope to look for standard dot patterns and/or calling a gallery to see if they have someone who can identify your canvas art print as an original or a reproduction.

Themed Boutique Hotels

If you really want to stay in a memorable hotel, choose one with a strong design theme. Far more than having room names with a common link, a strong design runs through everything the hotel does, and makes the whole guest experience more interesting. Choosing a definite theme can be a risk though and only those who have planned, researched and marketed properly pull it off.

The theme

A hotel can base its design around any theme, and most of the obvious ones have been done: books, music and artists, for example. Ideas for a theme need to be matched with a market for that theme, to ensure that the hotel can maintain profitable occupancy rates without having to compromise on its design principles. This is easier said than done, and some hotels have to tone down their original designs in order to attract a wider market.

The planning

Once a theme has been settled on, a great deal of planning is required in order to ensure that the design is properly thought through rather than just based on a couple of colours and a few pieces of artwork. Creating an individual hotel through themed design is a challenge and the planning process needs to be organised and well-managed to ensure that the eventual design runs clearly through all the hotels rooms and spaces.

The execution

Once the design has been approved, the project moves on to execution. This usually includes some architectural and building work as well as decoration, furnishings and fittings. For a themed design to work well, everything has to be from authentic sources, so hotel owners and designers often spend some time finding exactly the right furniture, art and accessories to create the themed look they are looking for. It is this attention to detail and finish that often distinguishes a boutique hotel from a run-of-the-mill hotel.

The marketing

Once the hotel is nearing completion, the owners need to market it. The best way to do this often depends on the theme, but a target market should have been established at the very beginning and this market now needs to know about the hotel and what it offers. From magazines to online advertising, the hotel needs to use its strong theme to attract attention and from that, to attract bookings.

A strongly-themed hotel usually narrows its market, but if the design and execution are properly planned and managed, the hotel can fill a niche and enjoy high occupancy rates.
